We released this song on the one-year anniversary of our miscarriage.

The waves of grief are unpredictable and strange.

We released this in collaboration with a friend who lost his son in a tragic car accident four years ago, the same year that we lost my brother, Joseph. 
After hearing the original “Shepherd by the Sea”, Tony felt resonant with the words and the imagery of waves crashing down and all around me.. It was my own continued process of journeying through the strange terrain of grief and loss and loosening our grip on control.

In a word,
SURRENDER.

When I first heard the demo of his re-imagined take on “Shepherd By The Sea” I was at a loss for words. Something deep stirred within my soul. I felt understood. I felt the fellowship of suffering.
A year prior, we were just hours into the sobering reality of losing our growing baby. That was when our own collaboration with Patrick (@BeforeFlags) “To Fall on Him (Remix)” released into the world. I remember Jessie and I laying on our bed with tears in our eyes, listening back to that instrumental over and over. It still amazes me that music can be so prophetic and future-forward. A piece of music created and scheduled for release MONTHS before had now become a meeting place for healing. 

Thanks to Patrick and Tony, we are releasing this psalm into the airwaves.

And very special thanks to our friend Justina Stevens who created this beautiful piece of art.

To hold our newborn daughter, born 10 days within the anniversary of losing our last, is a miracle we are in awe of. The dawn of her life, helping heal the pain of our last little one’s setting.

The waves of Love are unimaginable and wild.

All glory to the Good Shepherd, who is seen in the rising of the sun, no matter the season.
